Educational Background


 

After graduating University High School as Valedictorian in 1992, Dr. Paikal began his undergraduate education at UCLA, where he majored in Cell and Molecular Biology. He graduated summa cumme laude in 1996, and began medical school at UCLA the same year. He graduated UCLA Medical School in 2000 with several distinct honors: the Stafford L. Warren Medal for outstanding achievement throughout 4 years of medical school; and being chosen Junior AOA and AOA President for the Class of 2000. Dr. Paikal’s subsequent internship was in Internal Medicine at UCLA Medical Center, and residency training was in ophthalmology at the prestigious UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute. As teaching is one of his passions, Dr. Paikal serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at UCLA, where he teaches medical students several sessions a year.
